    • Knowing how to address challenging behaviors is a topic that every teacher needs to become familiar with to create a successful learning environment. Some of the techniques that I have learned through experience and collaboration with colleagues include using positive reinforcement, redirection, and modeling ways students can successfully communicate with peers independently to solve a specific situation. I have provided a video that helps to show some ways teachers can help to prevent challenging behaviors and tips to implement in the classroom if the behaviors are present. After viewing the video, please give some thought regarding how you help to solve the challenge of two students not getting along in your classroom.

      Think of a time in your classroom when two students were not getting along.

      Please state two techniques you have used to address the challenging behavior and what grade level the students were in.

      For each technique please explain:

      1.  How the technique helped the students.

      2.  Where you learned the technique from.

      3.  State if you would use the technique again, why or why not and if you would do anything differently.
